Multifragmentation in Relativistic Heavy Ion Reactions
Multifragmentation is the dominant decay mode of heavy nuclear systems with excitation energies in the vicinity of their binding energies. It explores the partition space associated with the number of nucleonic constituents and it is characterized by a multiple production of nuclear fragments with intermediate mass. Reactions at relativistic bombarding energies, exceeding several hundreds of Me...
متن کاملStopping in Relativistic Heavy Ion Reactions From SIS to RHIC
The status of stopping in heavy ion reactions is reviewed by comparing available data in pp, pA and AA systems over the energy regime √ sNN ≈ 2.5− 130 GeV. The data consist of average rapidity losses, anti-proton over proton ratios, and net-baryon values at mid-rapidity. The overall features of nuclear stopping are reasonbly well described by simple extrapolations of pp, and pA collisions to AA.
متن کاملTransverse Pressure and Strangeness Dynamics in Relativistic Heavy Ion Reactions
Transverse hadron spectra from proton-proton, proton-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus collisions from 2 AGeV to 21.3 ATeV are investigated within two independent transport approaches (HSD and UrQMD). For central Au+Au (Pb+Pb) collisions at energies above Elab ∼ 5 AGeV, the measured K transverse mass spectra have a larger inverse slope parameter than expected from the default calculations. The additi...
متن کاملMicroscopic Theory of Multifragmentation in High Energy Heavy-ion Collisions
We introduce a novel N-body approach to describe heavy ion collisions. The nucleons are represented as Gaussian wave packets in configuration and momentum space. They interact via a combination of a Skyrme type potential and a Uehling-Uhlenbeck two-body scattering mechanism. This theory keeps track of the correlations and therefore allows for a selfconsistent theoretical description of the enti...
